The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. 2 Cor 13:14
In this verse is all of heaven and everything we need to be partakers of eternal life. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to be reconciled to God. The work has been done all that is left is claiming the victory over every known sin in the name of Jesus.
The love of God is so unequaled, there is nothing left for him to do for us. Everything He could do He has done. God the Father loves us. This statement is not believed by everyone. Satan has managed to make our perception of God the same as that of the unkind and cruel earthly fathers we hear so much about. God the Father is love, Jesus did not have to talk him into caring for us, he already did. When Jesus said, "Have I been so long time with you and you don't know me?" He was answering a request from one of his disciples to see the Father. Jesus and the Father are one in purpose. They do not disagree.
"The communion of the Holy Ghost"; The Holy Ghost is the third person of the God Head. This is the unparalleled gift that Jesus gave to us when he ascended to His Father. On His return to heaven Christ sent back to his disciples, "The Comforter," to remain with them in this world until the work of man's redemption is finished.
I once had a friend tell me that she thought of the Holy Ghost as a mother figure. At first I thought her observation bizarre, but after some consideration I could understand how someone could conceive that notion. We have the Father, and the Son; What is missing? The Mother? It is much easier for human beings to comprehend the work of the Holy Ghost if they can know the work of a good mother.
A good mother will bring up her children with watchful care. She is always aware of what they are doing. There are times she will let them experience pain so they can discover the consequences of their actions. The end result of the mothers work is to raise her children up to be trustworthy adults, able to fill their useful place in this world. Her children will be capable of choosing, without hesitation, the honorable thing to do in all situations.
The gift of the Holy Sprit was the perfect bequest for Jesus to give to comfort and teach us in his absence. The Holy Sprit, was given to teach us of the things of God, to help us recognize the truth when we hear it. He can do this because he knows the will of the Father. He is one with the Father, just as Jesus Christ, The Word, is one with the Father. I believe if we allow the Holy Ghost to lead us, Change us into the image of Christ, we will start out as "Babies" in the faith, mature into "children" then "teenagers". At some point when we have learned to trust Jesus completely we will be so aligned with the will of God that our desire will be to do his will. Without hesitation or questioning we will choose the good continually. At that time we will be "adults", grown up into the image of Christ. This is the end result of the work of the Holy Ghost. Those who are alive and translated at Christ's second coming will have reached this level of sanctification.
There is a phenomenon sweeping through the religious world today called "Laughing in the Spirit". It's affiliated with the "Speaking in Tongues" controversy that has been with us for many years. This is only one form of the movement; others consist of "Barking in the Spirit" and being "Slain in the Spirit". All of these manifestations are being charged to the Holy Spirit. What is the true Sprit behind this trend? To know for sure what is, or should it be said, who is behind this current popular tide, let us look more closely into the true work of the Holy Spirit as depicted in the Bible.
Let us look at Acts 2:4-8,
"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?"
According to this verse when the apostles spoke with tongues on the day of pentecost they were speaking different languages. This gift, given to break the language barrier that would have killed the gospel work in its infancy before anyone ever had a chance to hear the good news of a risen Saviour. The lord being all wise, sent the Holy Spirit to provide to each believer the gifts needed for the work they were to do.
In Rev 14:6 we will find the meaning of the word Glossa. This word, commonly used with the charismatic trend that is originating the "IN The Spirit" excitement sweeping through the churches.
Rev. 14:6 "And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people."
The word "Tongue" in this text comes from the word "Glossa" as referenced in the Strong's exhaustive concordance of the Bible, in the Greek Dictionary of the New Testament, Ref. #1100. The meaning reads "a language"
One thing to remember when examining your experience with the different churches, the Lord never changes, He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Therefore, if you are to find a true experience with the Holy Spirit, one needs to go to the only true source of knowledge, the Holy Bible. It is only by staying grounded in the word that a Christian can avoid the traps the devil has placed in our paths.
For further study on the subject of the Holy Sprit here are some Bible Texts:
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: John 15:26
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you. John 16:13-15
Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 1 Cor 12:3-6
